    With a growing reputation for being one of the leading and most respected healthcare PR and marketing communications agencies, Highland Marketing has a variable and impressive client base ranging from global healthcare IT vendors, digital health companies, clinical research and innovative health tech SME’s through to public (including NHS trusts) and private healthcare providers.

    To support our growth we are looking for a dynamic individual to join as an account director. The successful candidate will need to have a demonstrable track record with a minimum of two years agency experience, be ambitious, an enthusiastic team player and have a desire to be hands on with a determination to produce excellent results both for clients and Highland Marketing.

    Experience in healthcare and technology would be preferable, but not necessary, just some proof that you are willing to develop a passion and understanding of these markets.

    The account director will own the relationship for a number of clients and manage a team to deliver against set objectives, including ensuring overall client satisfaction and on-time, on-budget completion of the agency’s services.

    Other skills we are looking for include the ability to help deliver thoughtful, inspiring and creative integrated campaigns, along with excellent writing and verbal skills. An understanding and demonstrable application of social media is an absolute must, plus experience of PR and dealing with the media would give you the edge. And, being able to demonstrate leadership with no fear of taking on responsibility to direct accounts is essential.

    Desired skills and experience  

    • Previous experience at account director level within an agency environment
    • Experience of managing B2B clients with proven track record in directing accounts and client relations
    • Ability to direct, manage and motivate a team effectively to achieve results at all levels
    • Able to effectively manage client relationships while delivering projects to the highest standard, on time and to budget

    Key responsibilities 

    Reporting to the client services director, key responsibilities would include directing and managing client accounts and delivering campaigns/projects within agreed budgets/profitability to achieve set objectives/targets, plus contribute towards growth of Highland Marketing

    The role will cover:

    • Project and client direction – develop deep understanding of clients with knowledge of their business objectives, goals and competitors. Produce and manage timelines on accounts and implement creative solutions to drive campaign programmes. Manage client relationships and liaise with clients and ensure campaigns run to agreed budgets including monitoring time sheets
    • Building client relations – build client relationships by listening to and understanding client requirements and exceeding/managing expectations; understand their brand(s) and customers
    • Managing budgets – maximise revenue from client accounts and manage client budgets and time on accounts/projects, plus producing accurate cost estimates
    • Presenting/reviews – take responsibility for presenting to clients including reports, results, client reviews, new campaigns as well as attending client meetings and events
    • Team management – take responsibility for managing account teams to deliver effective results/ performance, plus provide regular updates and feedback and help to manage, train and support junior staff and assist with their career progression and reviews
    • Market monitoring – monitor daily the healthcare market and media to ensure awareness of issues and government policy relevant for clients; be aware of market issues and competitive activity to enable ongoing consultancy and advice
    • Communications campaigns – develop, manage and direct the implementation of a range of communication campaigns/projects including PR, social media, marketing collateral – brochures, fliers, whitepapers etc – websites, events – exhibitions, seminars etc – database, direct mail and video
    • New business – play a significant role in sourcing new business opportunities and attending new business meetings and workshops, plus assist with writing of new business pitches/proposals and attend and deliver elements of these

    Key responsibilities
    Reporting to an account director, and other experienced members of the team, your key responsibilities would include implementing day-to-day tactics for client accounts to ensure delivery against agreed campaign targets and budgets.

    The role will cover:

    • Planning and administration – participate in creative brainstorms, contribute to presentation slides/plans, set up meetings and conference calls, daily search and coverage filing
    • Client management – develop deep understanding of your clients with knowledge of their business objectives, goals and competitors, share interesting insights with your team, attend weekly conference calls, liaise with clients where appropriate regarding project updates
    • Writing – creating and writing content ranging from press releases, case studies, opinion articles, blogs and social media (Twitter, LinkedIn etc)
    • Reporting – contribute and manage weekly status and monthly reports, write contact reports and campaign results reports
    • Media and influencer relations – help to run pro-active, issues based PR campaigns – on and off line – including reading traditional and social/digital media daily, completing daily coverage and news roundups, building contacts with all relevant key media, taking responsibility for pitching stories to the media, tracking feature opportunities and arranging media interviews
    • Communication campaigns – help to develop and implement a range of communication campaigns/projects including social media, marketing collateral – brochures, fliers, whitepapers etc – websites, events – exhibitions, seminars etc – database and direct mail and video
    • Internal communication – work with your team to provide regular updates and feedback
    • New business – assist with new business pitches and proposals
